What is a Carmelite
Our Order is a religious family which is rooted in the Holy Scriptures, with the prophet Elijah, and in the tradition which saw the birth of the Rule for the first hermits of Mount Carmel. Its charism attained maturity in Teresa of Jesus and John of the Cross, both doctors of the Church. Its members are formed in a living way, being helped to enter into this tradition by prayer, study and a Teresian way of life.
Jubilee Year celebration for St. John of the Cross from December 2025 to December 2026,
marking 300 years since his canonization and 100 years since he was declared a Doctor of the Church.
The Sanjuanist Jubilee Year as a time of spiritual renewal during which the Church invites the faithful to rediscover the mystical and theological heritage of St John of the Cross under the theme: ‘Hope obtains as much as it hopes’.
