Calling

If anyone is seeking God, the Beloved is seeking that person much more.

At the origin of religious consecration there is a call of God for which there is no explanation apart from the love which He bears for the person He calls.  This love is absolutely gratuitous, personal and unique.  It embraces the person to the extent that one no longer belongs to oneself but to Christ.

Discernment

The touchstone of the discernment process is the gospel principle of bearing fruit: the fruit of life and love towards Carmel.

To discern is to verify the will of God for someone, abandoning oneself to God's guidance, examined with realism and faith and in the light of one's personal journey, desires and aptitudes.
This discernment is made gradually and in an ongoing way during the stages prescribed by the Church in preparation for consecrated life.

Formation

Religious formation consists above all else is helping the person enter into living reality of Carmel.  This was the way our Lord dealt with his disciples when he invited to 'come and see' and experience what he himself was living.

Formation is to assist the individual and the grace of her vocation throughout the whole of her life taking into account her uniqueness and the conditions of life and culture she knew. It respects the gradualness of this process and the rhythms of growth of the person.
